Earth Hour, Earth Day, Earth Month….many of of our Climate Mamas and Papas choose to celebrate the Earth every day!!! But, as April approaches, many others around the globe join in….Earth Day (which is celebrated April 22nd around the world) has morphed into Earth Month, and this year Earth Hour, which is always the last Saturday in March, now serves as a great “lead in” to this special month…so, if you were looking for another reason to celebrate this weekend, grab the kids in your life and join us as we “celebrate the Earth!”
Earth Hour is about taking a special moment to think about why our planet is so special, why we should keep it that way, and what we are going to do, moving forward to keep it healthy and sustainable. So, grab your kids and come up with a plan that involves TURNING OFF THE LIGHTS at 8:30pm on Saturday, March 31st. Let Earth Hour be the beginning of your family’s spring “into action” plan, to make our planet a safer and more sustainable place! Have a “picnic” by flashlight with the kids in your life, tell stories in the “dark,” watch the stars, walk on the beach, play a board game by the light of the moon…what is your “next step” after the Hour?
Do your kids like to make videos? One program of Earth Hour this year is the “I will if you will” campaign..You make a pledge to “do something” to make the planet a healthier place, and challenge others to do something for our planet too…We would love to see your family staring in the next “Earth Hour Video!” Let us know at Climatemama, what you are up to. Challenge us, we may want to challenge you back!!
