April 23rd, the day after Earth Day….But wait; isn’t everyday supposed to be Earth Day? Sure it is, and we know you try your best every day for our planet. It is interesting however to see how Earth Day has become a “holiday.” And like many secular and non-secular holidays, Earth Day has taken on a “hallmark” feel and a commercial life of it’s own. Check out what our friends at Climate Counts have to say about “Green Watching” a new take on “Green Washing. ” Find out if the media companies that are jumping on the green bandwagon and are promoting and showcasing “Earth Day” programming are the same companies really “walking the walk” and trying to be more sustainable entities themselves; or are they just capitalizing on Earth Day and your environmental sensibilities?
Do you buy offsets when you fly? Long story, but our reason for pointing this out is that Delta Airlines has an “Earth Day offer” whereby they will match any offsets you purchase from the Nature Conservancy between now and May 22nd, effectively “doubling” your impact and the offsets you buy! Seems like a good deal…they will match all offsets up to a maximum of $25,000…lets see if we can help reach that number soon!
