Companies that Are Changing the World for the Better

shutterstock_11388127Another day, and there is another outrageous and shocking statement made by a politician, business leader or person in a position of power and trust. Another day, and there is another storm, flood, fire or drought that is getting worse and showing us that our planet is hurting, impacted by our actions. As the world turns each day, we also move on to the next day and the next news cycle; with many people becoming numb to the shocking and harmful attacks both on our planet and on us. But, as Climate Mamas and Papas we ARE watching, paying attention, speaking out and fighting back. And therefore we also see, hear and support the many politicians, businesses, and community leaders that are demanding the truth and acting on it.

There are so many ways we can show our children that we have their backs and are working to protect their future and now. A movement is growing which we – by our actions – are all part of. This summer, when as families we have more time to talk, to discuss and to just be together, take time to remind your children why and how we all can make a difference; as we work together to heal our planet and ourselves. Eating healthy foods, supporting companies that produce products designed and manufactured with thoughtfulness and care, are all critical ways that through our individual and household actions we can take control and be part of the solutions for a sustainable future and now.

stonyfield-logo_0As part of the Stonyfield blogger community, a company which we are proud to support, we are regularly introduced to products and companies that are “walking the walk” like Stonyfield is. One of these companies, prAna, is a manufacturer of clothing and accessories that are designed and manufactured with sustainability in mind. prAna also keeps equity and justice issues front and center; it is a holistic company, embodying an approach that we strongly believe other companies should and must follow.

Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 10.21.15 AMAs stated on it’s website, “At prAna we believe that actions speak louder than words. So we create pieces based on our own experiences and do it in a good way with sustainable materials and ethical practices. We’re not about talking the talk, we’re walking the walk, and we’d like to bring you along”

Sounds a lot like our mantra at ClimateMama: “Tell the truth, actions speak louder then words, and don’t be afraid;” doesn’t it?

While we can’t control what companies do, we can control what we buy and how we spend our hard earned money; showing our support – or not – through our purchasing power. We can clearly demonstrate to our children that we support thoughtful, mindful and sustainable ideas by what we buy, eat and use – these are important life lessons we must make time to talk about.

At ClimateMama, through our participation with Stonyfield; with the “Mind the Store” campaign, organized by Safer Chemicals Healthy Families; and by our work with the Rainforest Action Network to educate people about the harmful impacts of conflict palm oil, we continue to help our community see how each of us has a role to play in making our world a better and safer place.

Check out Stonyfield and prAna today, you can learn more at #summercravings. When you are buying dairy products and want something delicious, health and thoughtful, or when it’s time for a new pair of comfy jeans, consider these two companies. On ever purchase you make, seek out and support the companies walking those extra steps and remind your children that you are doing the research and making conscious choices for their future and their now.

Yours,

Climate Mama

P.S. As a blogger for Stonyfield we are compensated for our posts and did receive a clothing sample from prANa. This in no way influences our thoughts or ideas; and as always, our writing expresses our unbiased opinion. We know that you do your own homework and research, and seek out the facts and the truth as we do.
