Grab the kids in your life and explore your (their) creative side, get involved, do something and make a difference! In case you missed the “memo” November 14th is 24 Hours of Reality, The Dirty Weather Report. Last year, our Climate Mama, Harriet Shugarman was a panelist and “lady-in-waiting” at the first 24 Hours of Reality.

According to Maggie L. Fox, President and CEO of The Climate Reality Project: “The goal of the 24 Hours of Reality initiative is to mobilize the world to confront the urgency of the climate crisis by creating a cultural movement around the reality of extreme weather and climate change.” From November 14-15, 24 Hours of Reality: The Dirty Weather Report will draw real-world connections between the climate crisis and the realities of extreme weather around the world. The entire event will be broadcast live over the Internet by Ustream, and can be viewed at www.climaterealityproject.org.

How can you get involved? Well of course, help spread the news about the event and watch it. But beyond that, and RIGHT NOW you can share your stories and anectodes about how climate change is impacting you and your community and help people connect the dots to how it is impacting them.

Anyone interested in sharing their extreme weather story can upload their 1-5-minute video to YouTube or another video hosting site and email a link to [email protected]. You can make the video on your smartphone, your computer your video camera or any recording device. Your kids probably know a 1/2 dozen programs and ways to make videos and can help you or work on their own on this project. The deadline for submissions is midnight (PST) October 26, 2012. For more information, visit: http://climaterealityproject.org/submit-video. What a great project for the kids in your life, and/or for your family to do together! Potential stories could include:

· How has your home, neighborhood, school been damaged or affected by extreme weather …

· Business owners affected by reduced tourism…

· Hunters or anglers affected by shrinking rivers …

· Farmers encountering drought and smaller crops …

Do something today!

Yours,

Climate Mama
