According to the US Geological Survey, 2010 has the third lowest extent of summer ice, ever recorded in the Arctic. As our poles warm due to global warming, our ice sheets at the top and bottom of our world are quickly disappearing. We may soon see “ice free” summers in the Artctic. Many animals that rely on this ice, not just the polar bear, may find their very existence threatened by the disappearance of this ice.
