We want to share a short You Tube clip with you from The Unchained Goddess, circa 1958, the fourth of four educational films produced by Bell Laboratories and directed by Frank Capra. These films were used regularly in public school classrooms in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. This particular clip talks about global warming and its relationship to industrial growth, years before we had access to scientific data that now shows how humans are causing rising CO2 levels in our atmosphere (see last week’s Climate Mama News, on data collection of CO2 at the Mauna Loa Observatory). Scientists have been debating human caused global warming and its repercussions since the dawn of the industrial revolution. We now have data that allows scientists to conclude that humans are the cause of this post industrial revolution rise in greenhouse gases, including CO2, they no longer are just hypothesizing about it! So, remember, what is In the News, often has been there before. Isn’t it time we did something to change this?
