Senate Climate Bill, Endangered Species Day, Stationary Bikes and Energy: It's a wRAP, May 14, 2010

Last week, the US Senate passed a resolution declaring May 21^st as Endangered Species Day. The resolution “encourages the people of the United States to become educated about and aware of threats to species…” Many scientific studies tell us that the greatest threat to biodiversity is from global warming, which threatens mass species extinctions if it continues unchecked. Also in the Senate this week we finally have movement on climate change legislation with the release of the American Power Act, the Senate version of the American Clean Energy and Security Act, passed by the House of Representatives last June. The Senate Bill is far from perfect and it remains to be seen whether it will be passed. Environmental organizations are generally “cautiously” optimistic!
