During this time of giving thanks, we want to THANK all of you, for joining us on this journey, as we celebrate our “one” month Anniversary! Exciting news this week from the US government on Climate Change! President Obama will make an appearance in Copenhagen and the US delegation will include luminaries such as Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson, and Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change Carol Browner. It’s a star studded cast and one that has been put together to highlight the seriousness which the US is attaching to the issues at hand. Also this week, the US government declared emissions target reductions of between 17 and 42% between 2020 and 2030; strengthening the US negotiating position in Copenhagen. California, always ready to be “one step ahead” announced that it is setting state emissions targets that will be more stringent than those set by the Feds, and that it will launch its own cap and trade program, set to begin in 2012. Lots to be thankful for in advance of Copenhagen.
