Your kid’s may know her as “Dr. Grace Augustine,” from Avatar, or depending on their age, perhaps as Lieutenant Ellen Ripley in the “Alien” movie franchise, or maybe Diane Fossey in “Gorillas in the Mist.” Sigourney Weaver is also a committed, vocal and effective environmentalist and activist, and to us at Climate Mama, one of our Climate Mama heroes.
Longer than most of our “Video Peeks of the Week, “ take the time to watch Sigourney Weaver’s acceptance speech as an Honoree of this year’s Audubon Society’s, Rachel Carson Award for Women in Conservation. She eloquently weaves together many threads of a woman’s life, work, family and home. Ms. Weaver brought tears to our eyes at the same time that she empowers us to raise our voices, and use our influence, our strength and our skills as women and mothers in the fight against climate change.
