School is out and summer has officially begun. Many of us have been looking forward to summer vacations all year, while others are excited to just “kick back” and enjoy the long lazy days of summer, playing with our kids at the beach, the park and in our own backyards.
The beginning of the summer is a great time to make your family “climate plan.” What is your family going to do over the summer to try to tread more lightly on our planet and get more involved by creating and encouraging climate solutions?
We wanted to share a few upcoming events with you that you and your family might be interested in joining and that just might “jump start” your family climate game plan…
July 9 is the date to circle on your calendar. In Washington DC and New York City, families will be gathering to play, sing and take action on climate change! And if you can’t make it to New York or Washington, maybe you can plan your own “climate play date”…If you want us to share your event with our “world” let us know about it!
1. Join us in Washington DC as our families join together on the US Capitol grounds for a Play-In for Climate Action, hosted and organized by Moms Clean Air Force!
This family-friendly “protest” highlights how air pollution contributes to climate change and will showcase what’s really at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: our kids, their future and their now! Parents know that kids can’t sit still, so we are ditching a traditional sit-in–and having a Play-In. Join us for fun activities for kids, a press conference, and a march to the US Senate Building, where we will deliver a message from families across the country: it is time to get serious about climate change.
The Play-In for Climate Action will support the Environmental Program Administration’s Clean Power Rule, to cut carbon emissions from power plants. Use your power to clean up our power. Join us!

2. Join us in New York City as our families join together In Central Park for a Climate Play Date hosted and organized by New York City Grassroots Alliance.
This family friendly event will be focus on sending healing energy and enlightenment – radiating out from Central Park to the world – to help slow down our climate crisis and help us work together to build and create climate solutions. We will be learning a beautiful new song about mother earth lead by talented Brazilian musicians. We will share our picnics, our stories and our songs, hopes and dreams! Join us.
