The Climb Against Coal is an incredible journey of bravery and bravado by four moms and a few of their friends, who climbed Mt. Rainer, a dangerous 14,000 foot, glacier covered volcano, to bring attention to climate change and the dangers of coal fired power plants.
These “regular” moms decided to take extraordinary measures to protest against the toxic dangers and greenhouse gases which arise from coal-fired power plants; in this case a particular plant in Centralia, Washington. These moms are superheroes in the eyes of their children and their community (and to all of us at Climate Mama too!) They took a stand and took action on an issue they passionately believe in and are now demanding that their Governor shut down this plant and replace it with a new power source of renewable, non-toxic and efficient energy. Check out what these “mountain mamas” have to say and why the decided to take on this amazing challenge.
Do you know any parents that have taken on environmental challenges on behalf of their children future; parents who are reaching outside of their regular “comfort zone?” Share your stories or the stories of your friends with us. We want to hear from you!
