Our friends at the Alliance for Climate Protection recently launched a new program and we want to be one of the first to tell you about it! The web based program is called Repower at Home and it’s a great way to help you, your friends and your family save energy, save money and clean up our environment at the same time. Looking for projects to do with the kids in your life this summer? Why not get them and their friends to organize your neighbors and your friends and form a “team.” Your team will be able to track each others progress and support one another as you work to “repower” your block, your house of worship, soccer team, school, scout troop – and your extended family! Check out the Repower at Home website for more information, ideas and resources for hosting an energy meeting, and simple steps to start your own team. Let us know when you set your team and keep us posted on how you are doing!!
We wanted to share with you some of our “summer reading picks” as you get ready for some rest time at the beach, at the lake, or in your local park or back yard. Our summer picks are:
- Animal Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life, 2007, by Barbara Kingsolver
- Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder, 2008 – Richard Louv
- The Carbon Diaries, 2008 – Saci Lloyd (this novel is one your pre-teen and teens might enjoy too, ours did!)
For more reading ideas, check out our “trusted sources list” on the website.
What began with the release of the East Anglia University Climate Research Unit documents last fall has become, in a mere eight months, a global rejection and abandonment of Global Warmism. I wonder how the Warmists feel now–those people who said that anyone who doubted or questioned Global Warmism was a tool of evil industry, a hopeless ignoramus, or a person living in the Dark Ages? And have the people who religiously embraced this pious leftist fad, and then rejected it, learned anything? Or will they automatically embrace the next leftist fad that comes along?
